Warrior Kids

Program Overview

The program will focus on key aspects of coding logic, as part of computer science fundamentals. It is intended for students entering 7th, 8th, or 9th grade in the coming year. Our goal is to help children become familiar with computational thinking, using both plugged and unplugged activities. As a final assessment, the library staff will help students write their own basic code in Python, an introductory computer language. The maximum number of participants is 16.

Program Attendance Guidelines

Children should arrive by 10 am, at the latest. They are expected to attend every day of camp. The dismissal time is 12 pm, so parents are asked to pick up their children promptly. Students cannot be left unattended in the Library or on TAMUCT campus grounds.  Students not picked up in a timely manner may be dismissed from the program depending upon frequency and nature of the incident.

Dress Code

Dress Code Guideline

Because of the nature of the program, all participants must wear closed-toe shoes. Participants are not permitted to wear sleeveless tops.  The length of all dresses, skirts, and shorts should be no shorter than 4 inches above the top of the knee and must allow students to walk, stoop, kneel, and sit with modesty. Children who do not adhere to the dress code will not be able to attend the program.
