Occupations in Sociology

With a degree in sociology, you might work in human resources, industrial relations, marketing, public relations, international business, or organizational research, or as a sociologist.

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, careers in areas will grow at an average or faster than average rate over the next ten years, and pay a median annual salary of $40,000-$70,000. Most positions require a bachelor's degree or higher.

American Sociological Association
The American Sociological Association (ASA) is a non-profit membership association dedicate to advancing sociology as a scientific discipline and profession serving the public good.
European Sociological Association
The European Sociological Association (ESA) aims to facilitate sociological research, teaching and communication on European issues, and to give sociology a voice in European affairs. ESA is an academic association of sociologists and a non-profit Europe-wide association made up of over 2000 members. It was established in 1992, following deliberations and consultations among sociologists from a diverse range of countries.
International Sociological Association
A non-profit association for scientific purposes in the field of sociology and social sciences. The ISA was founded in 1949, under the direction of UNESCO. The primary goal of ISA, is to represent sociologists everywhere, regardless of their school of thought, scientific approaches or ideological opinions, and to advance sociological knowledge throughout the world. Membership is comprised of peoples from one hundred sixty seven countries around the globe.
