The program is designed to target core subjects of Math and Science for children entering 5th-6th grades. The goal is to boost student success in these core subjects. The library staff and the College of Education are partnering to bridge the gap by engaging children throughout the summer in hands-on STEM learning experiences. Students will gain exposure to basic electronics and draw connections between math and science and real-world design challenges. The maximum number of participants is 24 children.
Dress Code Guideline
Because of the nature of the program, all participants must wear closed-toe shoes. Participants are not permitted to wear sleeveless tops. The length of all dresses, skirts, and shorts should be no shorter than 4 inches above the top of the knee and must allow students to walk, stoop, kneel, and sit with modesty. Children who do not adhere to the dress code will not be able to attend the program.
Program Attendance Guidelines
Camp will start promptly at 9am. Children should arrive between 8:45-9:00 am each day and are expected to attend every day of camp. Dismissal is between 12 and 12:15 pm each day, and students will need to be picked up promptly in this time range. Students cannot be left unattended in the Library or on TAMUCT campus grounds. Students not picked up in a timely manner may be dismissed from the program depending upon frequency and nature of the incident.
