Online Attendance Guidelines
We are doing online tutoring at this time. Here are our current expectations:
1) Please mute your microphone when entering the screen-sharing session.
You may turn it back on while asking a question. You are also welcome to type questions in the chat.
2) Your child will be assigned a digital white board slide during each session.
You are encouraged to share photos or written descriptions of your math problem on your whiteboard.
3) Please alert the tutor in the chat when your white board question is posted.
She will answer questions in the order they are mentioned.
4) Please log into our tutoring portal between 5:00-6:45 pm to get help!
Our tutor will log off promptly at 7 pm, so give her time to respond to your question.
Typical Expectations: Due to the limited amount of space in the program, students must adhere to a strict attendance policy. For the entire semester, students must arrive no later than 10 minutes after the start of each session. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed to attend the learning session for that day. A student who misses a session without contacting the program coordinator will be considered a "no show." Students are permitted to miss only two sessions during the course of the program term; students with more than two "no show" days may be dropped from the program pending review from the program coordinator. Students cannot be left unattended in the Library or on the TAMUCT campus grounds. Parents must wait outside the tutoring room or remain somewhere in the building during tutoring.
Dress Code Guideline
Because of the nature of the program, all participants must wear closed-toe shoes. Participants are not permitted to wear sleeveless tops. The length of all dresses, skirts, and shorts should be no shorter than 4 inches above the top of the knee and must allow students to walk, stoop, kneel, and sit with modesty. Children who do not adhere to the dress code will not be able to attend the program.
The primary focus of the Tutoring Program is developmental reading and math skills for students in 1st through 5th grade. Our target audience is students who are at-risk or in need of homework help. The library provides this program free of charge.
